The Glueckskind charms are part of the Glueckskind family, a collection of jewelry that celebrates the promise of mutual trust. Each charm is meticulously crafted to capture the essence of this bond and evoke a sense of appreciation for the child who is dear and precious to the wearer.
What sets these charms apart is their ability to convey this connection in a subtle and intimate way. The first charm, discreetly hiding a baby on the inside, is a secret known only to the wearer. It represents the private bond between mother and child, a shared experience that is deeply personal. The second charm, resembling a tiny cot, cradles the baby on the outside, visible to everyone. It symbolizes the joy and pride of being a mother. The third charm features three babies on the outside, representing the happiness and fulfillment that comes with motherhood.
To bring these charms to life, Schwalm employed a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern technology. The initial designs were sketched and then translated into digital models using specialized software for jewelry design. Wax models were printed using Rapid Prototyping, ensuring precise and residue-free results. The final charms were cast in silver and meticulously hand-polished to achieve a smooth and flawless finish.
With a diameter of approximately 12mm x 6mm, the Glueckskind charms strike the perfect balance between elegance and wearability. They are designed to be lightweight yet substantial, allowing them to be worn comfortably every day.
Customization options are available for those who wish to add a personal touch to their charms. Engravings can be made on the outside of two of the charms, and gemstones can be added to the charm with the hidden baby, such as a diamond or any other precious stone.
The Glueckskind charms serve as a reminder of the unconditional love and trust between a mother and her child. They are a testament to the beauty and joy of motherhood, capturing the essence of this special bond in a timeless piece of jewelry.
Prototypes of the Glueckskind charms were exhibited in Munich and at the Paralax art fair in London in 2016. The positive reception and recognition of the design led to its patenting by the German Patent Office in Munich in 2017.
These charms have also received accolades in the design community, including the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category in 2018. This award recognizes the exceptional design, practicality, and innovation of the Glueckskind charms, which meet professional and industrial requirements while contributing to a better world.
Glueckskind charms are not just pieces of jewelry; they are symbols of love, trust, and the precious bond between mother and child. With their unique design and heartfelt meaning, these charms are a beautiful way to celebrate and cherish the connection that lasts a lifetime.
